STAFFING LEVEL – 39 POSITIONS

(7) Full-Time Positions / (1) Permanent Part-Time Position / (31) Seasonal Positions

Our Department’s operations changed drastically with the addition of Sapulpa’s state-of-the-art Aquatics center coming on-line.  We added 28 new staff and a host of new responsibilities that go along with such a facility.

The City of Sapulpa’s Parks and Recreation Department is continually striving to keep pace with the challenge of growth and being asked to take on more responsibilities, continue to provide “quality” parks and recreation facilities and programs that meet the ever-changing leisure needs of the Sapulpa Community.

The Parks & Recreation Department currently has 19 park and recreation facility areas, totaling 467 acres of parkland in varying stages of development under its jurisdiction.  City parks range in function and size from small, one-acre tot lots to a large youth sports complex.  The Department also manages and maintains approximately 370 surface acres of water, which are maintained by the Department and utilized for the Community’s outdoor boating, camping, fishing, and hunting activities.

“The Department strives to provide accessible, “benefits-driven” recreation activities and facilities for all Sapulpa citizens; protects and enhances the environment, both natural and man-made;  plans and carries out the ongoing maintenance and development of the City’s Parks and Recreation System; supports the facilitation of community groups and organizations in the provision of a broad range of recreation services for all ages; and provides a wide variety of direct recreation programs and events for the Community as needed.”
