I just love the Sapulpa Parks and can’t wait for the new Aquatics Center.

Their is only one good park in Sapulpa, and that’s the American Heritage Park. The other parks are in poor shape!! Try going to other surrounding city and looking at their parks, like Bixby, Broken Arrow, much much better. Until Sapulpa gets better city government we will always have poor parks!!!

I am moving to sapulpa and very excited about all you have in your city parks. I have worked in the park and rec field for 15 yrs and in edmond and broken arrow. I have fished pretty water and taken my kids to the parks in the area. They are great and good activities are happening. Look forward to doing and seeing more.

I just wanted to send you a message about the fishing dock on Sahoma lake. I’ve been fishing Pretty Water some and decided to run by the dock to check on fishing there. What I found was the NO SMOKING sign had been vandalized, cigarette butts all over the floor as well as covering the water inside the dock. I had considered bringing my granddaughter and wife to fish but I will not subject them to such a nasty, filthy, disgusting situation.

I’ve always enjoyed the local parks and the updates you have made to them have gone over well with my kids. Thanks for trying to make our community a better place for us all.

My child and I adore Heritage park and have since it has been open. My only concern is that lately a lot of older, inconsiderate teens have been hanging out inside the park causing trouble and using bad language, as well as making out in the wood tower. It disgusts me and sadens me that this is happening. I am pretty sure that other parents don’t want there children witnessing such things going on. The police department has been advised of the situation and hopefully something will be done soon to control this situation. Otherwise I love the park and thank you for building it.

I tried finding a place to share the picture of the 14.25″ white crappie that I caught at Sahoma on Monday, April 12th, but could not find a place to submit it. Let me know an actual email address so that I can send it to you.

    Tom,
Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. It is the goal of the Parks Dept. to ensure that everyone visiting Sahoma or Pretty Water Lakes have a pleasant experience. The No Smoking Sign is being replaced and the Lake caretaker has been made aware of the condition of the dock and water.

    Thank you,

What are the fees going to be to get into the aquatics center? Are there going to be family passes for small families? I am a single parent with one small child and we would love to go to the pool often. We frequented the pool in Glenpool last summer and they had a cheaper pass for one parent/one child pass. We didn’t have to pay the same as a family pass which could include up to 2 parents and 6 or more children.

  12. Christie

I love the parks in Sapulpa! Our family visits Heritage park, Davis park, Kelly Land park, and Liberty park regularly. We love the walking trails and play areas. We are so excited about the new aquatics center, and already love the splash pad. I also hope they have passes for families, because I plan on taking my kids to the aquatics center a few times a week. Thank you Sapulpa for having so many parks and taking care of them.

Well you may or may not have a No Smoking sign at the dock, but if you need to breath smoke just walk into the Concession/Bait Shop. I cannot believe that this shop is a smoking facility and you would allow employees or even volunteers to stink up such a nice little shop. My wife went to get my annual pass for Lake Sahoma and Pretty Water and WOW what a terrible place to have to go to get permits. I guess people just do not realize how much it deters from the beauty that this wonderful set of parks has to offer. Please make this place shine again and take the smoke away, thank you.

  14. Cristina

WOOHOO!!!! The Sapulpa Parks Website has been updated for the 2010 activities. Are there going to be season passes for the pool? At $3.00 a piece, that could be a chunk of change for the summer if you enjoy going daily, even for a couple of hours.

  15. Sherry Wheeler

Thank you so much for giving us a wonderful place to live, play and adventure to raise children. I LOVE SAPULPA !!!

Is the free sprinkler park still there?

  17. Susan

The price to get into the pool is outrageous especially for what you dont get. And the monthly pass is 65 dollars for one individual for 1 month. That is 260 dollars for a family of four. A car payment for most.. I am concerned by the fact that the toddler area is only sepereated by 4 feet of concrete from the deep water and like we expereinced today A toddler climb up the 12inch wall and ran into the deep end. A gate around the toddler pool should be installed before there is another accident. Very scary.
I have to admit I would rather drive the extra 15 min to Broken Arrow to a nicer place. A place safe for toddlers and slides and toys for the little ones to play on. And a GATE..The newness will wear off like the paint has already done on the slides. And I am also curious about the water quality. My daughters both came home with rashes and scrapes from the slide. I think for the 2 million spent it could have been planned a little better… Off to Broken Arrow we go…. Just MY opinion…
I know i sound like a negative nancy but my experience to this new aquatics center was not great. First I was greeted by an eldery window attendant who was very rude.

  18. Susan

Yes but Im sure it wont be free for long. Like a 3 dollar gate fee.

  19. Kim

Susan, what pool do you prefer to go to in Broken Arrow that has the toys and slides for little ones?

  20. Jan Duke

    Cristina,
The cost to get into the new Aquatic Center is $3.00 per person, 3yrs and under free. There is not a family pass available this year, however, there is an idividual pass which is $65 per month.
Have a wonderful Summer and we hope you enjoy Sapulpa’s new Aquatic Center.

Thank you Cristie, for commenting on our Parks. We hope you and your family continue to enjoy them and Sapulpa’s new Aquatic Center.

    Mr. Bradley,
I’m sorry your wife had a bad experience at Sahoma Bait & Concession Store recently. The Parks Dept. is doing everything they can to prevent smoking in and around the Concession area. New signs have been ordered and will be posted.

Yes, the splashpad is still at Liberty Park and free.

    Have a wonderful Summer.

The Family Aquatic Center, located in Central Park at 1400 S. Main St. (between Houston (81st) and Washington (91st) streets), Broken Arrow.

  25. Darci

How do you get ahold of the Aqutic Center to find information regarding swimming lessons? No one answers the number found on the web page. I have left messages and called more than 10 times over the last couple of weeks and can’t get anyone to answer. If you don’t want people calling or want to return messages, don’t post a phone number and don’t put on an answering machine.

  26. Jan Duke

    Darci,
I’m sorry you’re having difficulty reaching someone at the Aquatic Center and will look into it immediately.
Please feel free to call the Park Admin. office at 227-5151 with any other concerns you may have.

i have recently noticed while at the splash pad this year it had been repainted or recoted with something what ever was done to it has made it very slipery i was not even there for 20 mins and watched almost every kid there slip, fall, and pop there head on the ground and i was not the only parent there that noticed this happening and was wonder if it could be looked into before some gets hurt if they havent already. the splash pad is a great place but not with all the kids slipping every where, i hope something can be done my kid and i love going there

  28. Jan Duke

The Parks Dept. Maintenance Crew is doing everything they can to rectify this problem. The splashpad surface was painted before opening with paint that was supposed to be for pool surfaces but unfortunately isn’t doing the job.
Maintenance has since painted a grit clear coat on the surface to help with the excessive slipping.
The Parks Dept. does whatever is necessary to keep all faclities up to date and safe for all to enjoy.

Brought my family to the Sahoma Lake this weekend, and it was very peaceful. The only problem I have is the play ground equipment has spider webs ALL over it and my kids couldn’t even play on it. Plus the jungle gym looks like it should be repainted. There was a HUGE hole in the ground right in front of this jungle gym that my kids fell in!! The grass was not maintained at all it was very long. All and all it was a great time but could use some TLC!!

  30. Leslie

The splash pad is very nice but very slippery. We bring a daycare to the splash pad and almost all the kids fall and end up with scrapes and bruises. It is nice place but don’t know if we will bring them back.

  31. Jenny

I was at the splash pad today also and I agree with leslie I saw several kids hit the cement, yes it is better than the last time I was there. about 2 weeks ago, but they still have work to do on it before someone gets hurt really bad.

  32. Amber

When I called today to find out about the monthly passes(couldn’t find it on the website), the lady who answered the phone said there was no season passes…$65 isn’t much of a discount considering it’s $3 per day and for only June and July…I would rather spend that kind of money at white water bay and frontier city…it’s 64.99 for a season pass to both parks! I see the attempt, but poorly executed and ill planned.

  33. John Waytula

We have been looking into whether or not to add another layer of grit paint over the splashpad surface or simply attempt to remove the paint. My staff and I have decided to remove the existing paint surface. We are planning to sand blast the paint off of the Liberty Park splashpad surface tomorrow June 22.

  34. Robyn

I agree that the summer passes should be more inexpensive, like around $85-$100 for a whole family. I am also displeased with having the people to pay that don’t swim, such as my grandfather who is elderly and takes the kids. I believe that they should at least have a discounted rate for seniors. But we have enjoyed going to the pool this summer, we are glad that Sapulpa does have a pool now.

  35. Kristin

$65 a month for a pass is ridiculous. You can get a summer long pass to Big Splash for less than that! This does not seem right!

  36. Alexandra

We will be closing on a house in Sapulpa in a few weeks and we were excited about the new aquatic center, but I am hearing very negative things and the prices seem insane. Lots of the pools in Tulsa cost nothing and sometimes $1 at the most. I also think it is wrong to charge entance for adults that are only there to supervise. Maybe a band could be given to those not allowed in the pool?? I think the City needs to rethink some of their decisions. I am thankful that thee is a place close by to go to have cool fun, but we won’t be able to afford to go there more than a few times all summer.
